The Desk Of
Fr.
Thomas Luczak, OFM
Provincial Minister of the Assumption Province
In
the name of the one hundred and seventy-five followers
of St. Francis of
Assisi
who make up the Assumption of the Blessed Mary
Province, I welcome you to the vocation office’s web site.
I'm grateful for your interest.
We would be hard pressed to find a saint with more universal appeal
and notoriety than St. Francis of Assisi. The characteristics that
are often associated with him such as prayerfulness, simplicity,
joy, and humility are found in many
of the members of our fraternity. St. Francis is a model for us,
and many of our friars are good reflections of that model.
While concern about fraternal life is important, we also try to
help meet some of the needs of the Church. You'll find our men
in the classrooms, the pulpit, in hospitals, hospices and working
among the poor. Some are in middle class neighborhoods while others
are in inner-city communities. We respect the gifts God has given
each of us, and try to help those gifts flourish and be used for
God's glory. So, we do all kinds of ministry.
We also pray together, and in private. Sometimes our prayer is
emotional, and we often ask God for help, understanding and forgiveness.
Sometimes it is for our personal needs; often it is for others.
Most of the time it is from the heart. It is also with the desire
of getting to know God and His goodness more so that we can tell
of our experience to others.
You'll get to know us more as you glance through our web site.
Enjoy and know that our wish for you is what St. Francis wished
for all: May the Lord give you His peace.
