Direction Statement
Assumption Province for 1996-2002

The Provincial Community recommits itself to the challenges and values in its Mission Statement. During the next three years, we will work to strengthen the integration of our fraternity, our ministry and our stewardship.

We accept shared responsibility through various communication methods for accomplishing the following directions mandated by the Provincial Chapter of 1996:

1. Through a systematic review of Franciscan sources, we will identify, study and own Franciscan values that shape our fraternal life and ministry.

2. The Brothers and elected leadership will fashion a Vision Statement for the Province and a Pastoral Strategic Plan. Based on a realistic assessment of our personnel and financial resources, the plan will include but not be limited to the following:

a. an assessment of the quality of fraternal life;

b. an evaluation of the effectiveness of ourselves as ministers and our ministerial commitments;

c. an exploration of how we share our Franciscan gift with others;

d. a study and implementation of options to strengthen collaboration;

e. a study of regionalization which investigates and analyzes the implications of pluriformity, the diverse location of our ministries and the desire for strengthened fraternal life. The results of this study will be presented to the Provincial community for implementation.

Together we are committed to the quest of exploring and naming what it means to be a Franciscan Friar of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Province today and tomorrow. In this search we seek hope flowing from faith in God, and we exercise confidence in each other's love.
